Lab Results Tracker
Tracking your viral load and CD4 count over time is one of the most powerful ways to see your progress and catch changes early.
Your viral load and CD4 count are your two most important numbers. Viral load shows how much HIV is in your blood. CD4 count shows how strong your immune system is. Both improve significantly with consistent ART.
Understanding Your Numbers
Viral Load: Goal is "Undetectable" (less than 200 copies/mL on most tests). Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U).

CD4 Count: Normal range is 500-1,500. Above 500 is generally healthy. Below 200 indicates AIDS-defining condition risk.

CD4 Percentage: Often more stable than raw count. Above 14% is generally good.

Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) Log
Consistent ART is the most effective way to achieve and maintain an undetectable viral load. Tracking adherence helps you stay on course.

Common ART regimens include Biktarvy, Cabenuva, Descovy, Genvoya, Triumeq, Odefsey, and others. Always consult your HIV specialist before making any changes to your regimen.

Supplements and Holistic Wellness
Many people living with HIV use supplements to support immune function, energy, and overall wellbeing alongside their ART.
Important: Always tell your HIV doctor about any supplements you take. Some can interact with ART medications. This is especially true for St. John's Wort which can reduce the effectiveness of many antiretrovirals.

PrEP and PEP Information
For HIV-negative individuals in our community, or those supporting loved ones. PrEP and PEP are powerful prevention tools.
What Is PrEP?
PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a daily medication taken by HIV-negative people that reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by about 99% when taken consistently. Common brands include Truvada, Descovy, and Apretude (injectable, every 2 months).
What Is PEP?
PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is emergency medication taken within 72 hours of a possible HIV exposure. It must be started as soon as possible and taken for 28 days. PEP is not a substitute for regular prevention but can be life-saving in emergencies.
U=U: Undetectable Equals Untransmittable
People living with HIV who maintain an undetectable viral load through consistent ART cannot sexually transmit HIV to their partners. This is scientifically proven and endorsed by the CDC, WHO, and major HIV organizations worldwide.

Section 07
What's Normal?
So much fear comes from misinformation. Here is what the science and community actually say.
People with HIV live long, full lives.

With modern ART, people diagnosed with HIV today can expect a near-normal life expectancy. HIV is a manageable chronic condition, not a death sentence.

Undetectable means untransmittable (U=U).

If your viral load is undetectable on ART, you cannot sexually transmit HIV to a partner. This is scientifically proven and life-changing.

It may take time to find the right ART regimen.

Different people respond differently to medications. If you experience side effects, talk to your doctor. There are many effective options.

Emotional processing after diagnosis takes time.

Grief, fear, anger, and shame are all normal. Many people find that these feelings ease significantly over time, especially with community support.

You can have relationships, sex, and love.

People living with HIV have fulfilling romantic and sexual relationships. Disclosure decisions are personal and there is no single right way.

CD4 counts fluctuate.

Minor variations in CD4 count between tests are normal and do not always indicate a change in your health status. Trends over time matter more than single readings.

Stigma is a liar.

HIV stigma is rooted in misinformation from decades past. The science has changed dramatically. You are not who stigma says you are.

You are not alone in this.

Millions of people worldwide are living full, healthy, joyful lives with HIV. Community, support, and science are all on your side.

"Undetectable is not just a medical status. It is a declaration that you are doing the work, showing up for yourself, and winning."
Section 08
You Are Not Your Status
A moment to breathe, reflect, and remember who you are beyond this diagnosis.

You Are Not Your Status.

Your HIV status is something you carry. It is not who you are.

You are still worthy of love, connection, joy, and a full life. Nothing about this changes your value as a human being. Nothing about this makes you less deserving of the life you imagined for yourself.

It is okay if you are still processing. It is okay if some days the weight feels heavy. Healing and acceptance are not linear and you are allowed to take this one step at a time.

You are not alone in this. There is a community of people who understand, who have walked this road, and who are living proof that a beautiful life is absolutely possible.

Give yourself grace. Give yourself time. And most importantly, do not give up on yourself. The best parts of your story have not been written yet.

"You are worthy of every good thing that is coming to you. Your status does not change that. Not even a little."
PositivePathways was built for moments like this. So you never have to carry this alone. positivepathways.app
